Melissa H. “Missy” Luce has recently returned to West Virginia from New Jersey after 17 years. She came to us from the firm of Stephen S. Weinstein, PA., where she was engaged exclusively in cases involving medical malpractice and general personal injury litigation in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Her practice is and has been focused on medical malpractice and pharmaceutical litigation, product liability, wrongful death, construction and automobile accidents. Prior to her employment with the Weinstein firm, Missy was employed by Leonard & Butler, P.C. in Morristown, New Jersey from April, 1992 to March, 1994, after working for six years in Charleston for Di Trapano & Jackson. During her tenure in New Jersey, Missy was certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney, a distinction earned by less than one percent of the legal profession in New Jersey. She has received the AV Peer Review Rating for Ethical and Legal Ability from Martindale-Hubbell, which indicates her peers have ranked her at the highest level of professional excellence.
Missy enjoys contributing to the community and has volunteered for programs such as the Special Olympics, Project Hope, and as a coach of youth basketball for YMCA. In 1982, she did short-term mission work for Project Serve in the Dominican Republic. While in New Jersey, she served as counsel to the Morris County Democratic Committee from 2002 to 2008 and was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Visiting Nurses Association of Northern New Jersey from 2001 to 2008. In 2001, she served as a volunteer attorney for Trial Lawyers Care providing free legal representation to the families and victims of September 11, 2001. During two different periods (1987-98 and 2003 to present), Missy has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of her alma mater, Davis and Elkins College.
