John Skaggs

| John H. Skaggs was born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the West Virginia University College of Law.
Since entering practice in 1981, his areas of interest have included workers compensation and toxic torts. John has represented people injured by asbestos, lead, carbon disulfide, trichloroethylene, polychlorinated bi phenyls, isocyanates, defective equipment, coal dust and other substances. His clients have suffered such diseases as peripheral neuropathy, asbestosis, silicosis, mesothelioma, occupational asthma, occupational bronchitis, pleural disease, liver cancer, bladder cancer, adenocarcinoma, sarcoma, squamous cell lung cancer and other diseases, and injuries to the legs, arms, back, pelvis, and skull. He has also represented clients with property contamination as a result of dioxin, coal dust, fines and fluff generated by mechanical car and appliance shredders, and noise from trucking and recycling activities.
John has appeared in state, federal and administrative courts in cases arising from personal injury, public and private nuisance claims, writs of mandamus against state agencies, and federal social security disability, state workers compensation, federal black lung, and state workers’ compensation black lung and rock dust exposure. |
