Asbestos

Once widely used in insulation and fireproofing, asbestos use has cost a high price.

Nearly all insulation materials manufactured before the mid 1970Ôs contained some asbestos, and many products have also contained asbestos ä from brake and clutch assemblies, ceiling tile, pipe covering, asbestos cloth, packing materials and more. Asbestos was also used widely in construction materials as well.

Unfortunately, workers exposed to asbestos and asbestos dust often did not use protective equipment because they were never told that asbestos, its fibers and the dust it creates, were dangerous.

Even family members were exposed to asbestos, simply from day to day contact with the person who was working around it.

Asbestos-Related Disease
Today, we know that exposure to asbestos can cause such diseases as:

• Mesothelioma
• Asbestosis
• Lung Cancer
• Other cancers, particularly laryngeal and colon

Doctors say that it can take up to forty years for an asbestos-related disease to show up after initial exposure.
